A member of the US Federal Reserve, James Bullard, said that he believes that the US interest may remain at low levels for a period of time, indicating that most of the business is undergoing a phase of change due to the spread of the Covid 19 virus. Low interest allows credit markets to open, allowing people to get access to loans.

On the other hand, Neal Kashkari, a member of the Federal Reserve Committee, opposes this idea, and has stated that in light of the new future directives of the Federal Reserve, there is still a possibility of raising interest rates before the Fed goals are achieved.

Kashkari wants the Fed to pledge to wait for interest rates hikes only until core inflation reaches 2% within about a year, as a core inflation rate of 2% will prove that the economy is running with the required efficiency.
