Official report: US crude and fuel stocks fell in the latest week

Stocks of crude oil, gasoline and distillates declined in the United States last week, the US Energy Information Administration said Wednesday.

Crude inventories fell 1.6 million barrels in the week ending September 18 to 494.4 million, while analysts in a Reuters poll expected a decline of 2.3 million barrels.

Crude stocks at the delivery point in Cushing, Oklahoma, rose 4,000 barrels in the latest week.

Crude consumption by refineries decreased by 118 thousand barrels per day last week, and the rate of utilization of refinery capacity decreased by one percentage point.

US gasoline stocks fell by 4 million barrels to 227.5 million barrels, while analysts in a Reuters poll expected a decline of 648,000 barrels.

Distillate stocks, which include diesel and heating oil, fell by 3.4 million barrels over the week to 175.9 million barrels, while they were expected to rise 1 million barrels.

Net US crude imports fell by 267,000 bpd last week, the Energy Information Administration said.
