US Federal Reserve member Thomas Barkin said today, Thursday, that he hopes that US jobless claims data will witness further improvement and moderation during the coming period, following the release of unemployment benefits data last week, earlier today. At the same time, Barkin said he believes the financial markets are in good shape so far.

The US Labor Office released today, Thursday, the data of the US jobless claims index, which showed that the index improved for the first time in three weeks. Orders rose last week by about 1,186,000 requests, better than the market’s expectations that indicated an increase of 1,410,000 requests, and that data limited the decline in US stocks at the open.
