President Trump pushed on Tuesday toward a comprehensive deal to stimulate the economy hit by the outbreak of the Coronavirus, and said he would accept a deal more than $ 2.2 trillion, despite strong opposition to spending measures from Senate Republicans, a majority Republican.

"I want it bigger than the Democrats want," Trump said in an interview with Fox News, as talks are taking place between Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to try to seal the deal before the deadline set by Pelosi expires at the end of the day.

The White House proposed 1.8 trillion dollars for the stimulus package, but the House of Representatives headed by Pelosi rejected it, due to disagreements over the items of spending and the size of the package.

The Republicans, who are in the Senate, are rejecting any package of nearly $ 2 trillion, and they would like smaller initiatives.

On Tuesday, Republicans are preparing to pass a stimulus to small businesses hurt by the Coronavirus, with infections in the United States surpassing 8.2 million, 220,000 deaths, while millions remain unemployed.

Trump predicted that the Senate would approve if Pelosi and Mnuchin were to agree.

Trump said, "Not all Republicans agree with me, but they will." Trump faces opposition from Senate leader Mitch McConnell. Trump said: "He will accept if there is new."
