Britain is investing $ 1.6 billion to produce a giant weather and climate computer
The British government plans to invest 1.2 billion pounds ($ 1.6 billion) to develop what it describes as the world's most powerful supercomputer to provide more accurate weather and climate forecasts.
The new supercomputer, which will be run by the country's weather authority, will be used to help forecast storms more accurately, determine the most suitable sites for floods and forecast changes in the global climate.
The device will provide better forecasts for the airports to allow them to prepare for any emergency, and will give the energy sector more detailed information.
The current PCs in the British Weather Authority expire in late 2022.
