European markets closed higher for the third session in a row

European stock indices closed higher at the end of trading today, Friday, for the third session in a row, with the Stoxx 600 index rising on the last trading day of the week.

The European Stoxx 600 index closed with an increase of 0.4% on Friday, and the performance of most sectors varied, as chemical sector shares rose by about 0.9%, while technology shares fell by 0.1%.

Oil futures were trading higher after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) announced that its postponed meeting will actually be held on November 30.

The Stoxx index witnessed weak movements this week, despite rising to its highest level since September 20.

In terms of economic data, the final German GDP data for the third quarter recorded a contraction of 0.1% on a monthly basis. The gross domestic product decreased by 0.8% on an annual basis
