Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the government is determined to take steps to protect citizens from high inflation and reduce it to single digits to ease this burden on the people.

Speaking at the annual general meeting of the Federation of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges after winning the presidential run-off on Sunday, Erdogan said the government would attract investment to Turkey.

Annual consumer price inflation fell to 44% in April from a 24-year peak of 85.5% last year.

Erdogan won the presidency of Turkey for the third time in the second round of elections held last Sunday, when he won 52.14% of the vote, while Kilicdaroglu got 47.86%.
