Fed Minutes: Fed members ready to raise interest rates if inflation continues to rise
There is more uncertainty about inflation expectations
The minutes showed that "several members noted that the committee should be prepared to adjust the pace of asset purchases and raise the target range for the federal funds rate sooner than members currently expect if inflation continues to rise from levels aligned with the committee's goals." .
Members also emphasized the "patient" approach to incoming data, which showed inflation was at its highest pace in more than 30 years.
