The Dow Jones and S & P500 indices start 2021 at record highs

The S & P500 and Dow Jones indices kicked off the year 2021 with record highs on Monday, January 4th, extending gains made supported by hopes for a global economic recovery thanks to vaccines.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 21 points, equivalent to 0.07%, to 30627.47 points, while the S & P500 index opened up 8.5 points, or 0.23%, to 3764.61 points.

The composite Nasdaq index increased 70.2 points, or 0.54%, to 12,958,522 points.
