The STOXX 600 closed at the highest level in a year, posting a weekly gain

European indices rose at the close of trading on Friday, the nineteenth of May, recording weekly gains.

At the end of the session, the STOXX600 index rose by 0.66% to 469 points, the highest level in a year.

The French CAC rose by 0.6% to record 7,491 points, and the German DAX by 0.69% at 16,275 points, the highest level ever, while the British FTSE ended the session up by 0.19% at 7,756 points.

Shares of financial services companies led the gains, up by 2.2%, while construction companies rose by 1.5%.

And Tesco shares ended the session down by less than 0.1% after John Allan, CEO of the supermarket chain, announced that he would step down from his position.

Economic data showed that producer prices in Germany rose more than expected, to 4.1% on an annual basis in April.
