US consumer confidence rose slightly in January
Consumer sentiment in the US rose slightly in January as concern over the COVID-19 pandemic persisted.
The Conference Board said on Tuesday that its index of consumer confidence rose to a reading of 89.3 this month from 87.1 in December.
Economists polled by Reuters had expected the index to remain unchanged at 89 in January. The index had peaked at 132.6 in February.
