Cryptocurrencies are falling as a wave of sales expands in the markets
Cryptocurrency prices tumbled on Monday as concerns about the risks posed by Chinese real estate giant Evergrande's woes to the global economy spilled over to the markets.
Bitcoin, the largest and most famous cryptocurrency in the world, fell by more than 8% to 42,453 dollars, its lowest level since August 7, before reducing its losses to seven percent.
On September 16, Bitcoin hit a nearly four-month high above $52,000.
Ether, its smaller rival, plunged more than 10 percent to less than $3,000 for the first time since early August.
