US stock indices rose slightly during these moments of trading today, Friday, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average is trading near a stable level after the average of leading stocks briefly exceeded the level of 40 thousand points for the first time in yesterday’s session.

The 30-stock average rose 50 points, or 0.12%. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also rose 0.1% each.

On Thursday, the Dow Jones reached an intraday high of 40,051.05 points, above the psychologically important level of 40,000 points, before retreating to end the day down about 0.1%. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also finished slightly lower on Thursday, although both also reached all-time highs during the session.

Stocks are headed for a strong end to the week, with the S&P 500 rising 1.5% and the Nasdaq gaining 2.3%. Both indices are heading for gains for the fourth week in a row. While the Dow Jones Index is heading for its fifth positive week, rising by 1% during this period.

This week's rise helped push the three indices into positive territory for the second quarter of this year despite the difficult start. So far, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq have risen more than 11% in 2024, while the Dow Jones has risen more than 5% during the year.
