Senate passes trillion dollar infrastructure bill
The US Senate passed a bipartisan $1 trillion infrastructure plan on Tuesday, a big step for Democrats as they try to advance President Joe Biden's overall economic agenda through Congress.
The legislation, which includes $550 billion in new funding for transportation, broadband and utilities, won Democrats and Republicans votes.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York, then plans to move to a budget resolution that would allow Democrats to approve what they see as a $3.5 trillion supplemental spending plan without Republican votes.
