The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits fell last week.

The US Labor Department said first-time applications for state unemployment benefits fell to a seasonally adjusted pace of 281,000 last week, the lowest level since mid-March 2020.

This is the third consecutive week that orders remain below the 300K level.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast 290,000 orders.
