Unemployment claims in the United States reached 373 thousand, compared to expectations of 350 thousand applications
The US Labor Department said Thursday (July 8) that initial unemployment insurance filings rose unexpectedly last week, in a possible sign that the rapid job growth experienced in the first half of 2021 may face hurdles in the coming months.
First-time jobless claims totaled 373,000 for the week ending July 3, compared to 350,000 in Dow Jones' estimate.
It is reported that the previous week's level was revised upwards by 7000 from 364,000 to 371,000 orders.
