Wall Street indices continue their record highs
US stock indices rose during these moments of trading on Friday, benefiting from the strong gains witnessed in the previous session as investors were looking to end the week on a high note.
The S&P 500 rose 0.3%, surpassing 5,100 for the first time. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 117 points, or 0.3%, also reaching a new record high. The Nasdaq Composite rose 0.5%, heading toward an all-time closing high.
Wall Street is coming off a strong session with NVIDIA Group (NASDAQ:NVDA) stock rising on the back of strong quarterly results, pushing the chipmaker past its $2 trillion valuation.
The S&P 500 had its best day since January 2023, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 3% in its best session since February 2023. The 30-stock Dow Jones Index rose 1.2% at the end of trading yesterday.
All three major averages are on track to end this week on a higher note, with the S&P 500 up 2% so far, while the Nasdaq is up 2.2% so far this week. The Dow Jones index rose 1.4% during this period.
