European shares closed slightly higher on Wednesday, seemingly ignoring concerns about rising bond yields as well as historical inflation levels in the UK.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 closed 0.2% higher after starting the session in the red.

Mining stocks led the gains, jumping 2.7%.

Investors are bracing for the prospect of higher interest rates, which could hurt high-growth sectors such as technology.

European technology stocks were among the biggest decliners on Wednesday, by 0.9%.

US bond yields continued to climb, with 10-year Treasuries rising to 1.89%, the highest in two years.
