The rise of US indices for the month of November pauses at the opening of the session
US stocks fell slightly on Thursday, November 16 as the market's rise this month appeared to have paused.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 77 points, or 0.2%, the S&P 500 fell 0.1%, and the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.2%.
Cisco Systems shares fell 12% after the company provided weak guidance for the current quarter and full fiscal year, and Palo Alto Networks shares fell 7% after the cybersecurity company issued a bleak forecast about its payments.
Data on Thursday showed that import prices fell by 0.8% in October, more than the 0.3% expected by economists surveyed by Dow Jones.
This, along with an increase in weekly jobless claims, comes on the heels of major inflation reports released earlier this week that showed inflation is finally slowing.
These moves came on the heels of a winning day on Wall Street, as investors rejoiced at the latest inflation data, which gave a glimmer of hope for the Fed's move towards lowering interest rates.
