The University of Michigan said on Friday that US consumer sentiment fell against expected in early November due to the result of the presidential election and the rise in the rate of infections and deaths from Covid-19, which puts pressure on the economic outlook.

The University of Michigan's index of consumer sentiment fell to 77 early this month from a final reading of 81.8 in October.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected the index to change slightly to 82.
