US jobless claims rise to highest level since October, with 286,000 claims

US jobless claims rose over the past week, in a clear sign that the rise in omicron mutant cases has hit employment.

The number of jobless claims in America rose to the highest level since October at 286 thousand applications, while expectations indicated 225 thousand applications, while applications recorded 231 thousand applications during the past week.
