US stocks open higher on the rebound in the technology sector
Major US indices opened higher on Thursday, buoyed by the demand momentum for low-price technology stocks that overshadowed a high reading of jobless claims, indicating a volatile economic recovery.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 82.04 points, equivalent to 0.29 percent, to 2,8022.51 points, the Standard & Poor's 500 Index advanced 13.60 points, or 0.40 percent, to record 3,412.56 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index increased 93.96 points, or 0.84 percent, to 11235.53 points.
