The inflation rate followed by the Federal Reserve reaches its highest level since January 1982 at 6.8%
The inflation index, which the Federal Reserve uses as its main measure, jumped to a more than 40-year high in June, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reported Friday, July 29.
The PCE price index rose 6.8%, the largest year-on-year rise since the 6.9% level in January 1982.
The index rose 1% from May, marking its largest monthly rise since February 1981.
